CASTING CALL FOR SFI 2019

Interested in acting? Want to build your reel? Our student-led week-long Project AWARE Summer Film Institute (SFI) will be holding an audition for actors for our upcoming session. Must be available with a flexible schedule the week of Tuesday-Thursday July 16-18 between the hours of 9am-5pm.

TIME: Auditions will take place from 2pm-5pm or later if need be.

LOCATION: Auditions will take place at 128 Main Street, right next to Elda. Currently the storefront is empty but we will be using this space for the auditions.

No experience necessary. Non-actors and actors both welcome to audition.

This year, we’ve selected a script by high schooler Emmatisse Sayar about the dangers of vaping, working title, Mango Buzz

2019 SFI participants will be selecting the actors, with assistance from mentors.

Auditions will happen on a first-come, first-served basis. We’ll have a sign in sheet with approximate time slots.

CASTING:

LEAD ROLES:

PAUL (Age 40-50s) Father of Kaia and Lucas. Widower. Vaping product salesman. 10 scenes.

LUCAS (Age 15-18) Paul’s son. High school age. Lost his mother to lung cancer. Sensitive to the selling of tobacco via vaping to minors. 5 scenes.

KAIA (Age 15-25) Lucas’ sister. Selling vaping sets to friends. 5 scenes.

LOLA (Age 15-18) Lucas’ girlfriend. Promises not to vape but does it behind Lucas’ back. 3 scenes.

SUPPORTING ROLES

KAREN (Age 25-35) Lola’s Older Sister. 1 scene.

JENNY (Ages 5-10) Young girl who confronts Paul about selling vaping material to her aunt. 2 scenes.

OLDER MAN (Age 60+) Buys vaping paraphernalia from Paul. 1 scene.

YOUNG COUPLE (Age 30s+) Couple buys vaping paraphernalia from Paul. 1 scene.

COLLEGE STUDENT (Age 20s) Interacts with Paul. 1 scene.

JUNIOR HIGH SCHOOL STUDENT (Age 12-15, grades 6-7-8) – interacts with Paul. 1 scene.
