Performance series “en route” slated

Taking place in Engine’s gallery space, 𝗲𝗻 π—Ώπ—Όπ˜‚π˜π—² is a walk up dance installation to be seen safely from the sidewalk that will showcase both film and live performances every Friday throughout the months of January and February. This series is generously curated and produced by dance artist Jacqui De FranΓ§a.

During the run of 𝗲𝗻 π—Ώπ—Όπ˜‚π˜π—² there will also be unannounced moments of process. Dance artists will be occupying the space to rehearse, create, and groove.

January 1 from 5:30-7:30pm: en route // one: HERE NOR THERE, a dance film by subcircle. subcircle is a Philadelphia-based company with an artist residency and retreat center here in Biddeford, Maine. Subcircle’s work transforms theatrical and site-specific spaces, merging dance, sound, set design, lighting, and film. Click for more info.

January 8 from 5:30-7:30pm: en route // two: π™¬π™π™šπ™§π™š 𝙖𝙒 𝙄, a film by NYC-based company Flying Under The Radar (2015) directed by Marlon Taylor-Wiles and co-choreographed by Marlon Taylor-Wiles, Maleek Washington, Jacqui DeFranca, and Zui Gomez. January 15 from 5:30-7:30pm: en route // three: Bench Impression Directed, choreographed, and edited by Hannah Haines @hannahthaines on Instagram. Dancer: Kailey McLaughlin @kfmclaughlin. Music: Annierose Kligbeil. Inspired by Virgina Woolf’s essay Street Haunting, a dancer moves through their world tethered to their present by a little wooden bench.

February 5 – 13: en route/ / LIVE: BLAZE by Scott McPheeters. BLAZE is an installation and performance project that promotes a more reciprocal relationship with our more-than-human neighbors and investigates β€œBlaze Orange” as a contradictory indicator of violence, safety, otherness, and assimilation.

BLAZE Dance Film will be projected and looped every 10 minutes each evening from 5:00pm – 8:00pm.
Live Store-Front Performances will take place Feb. 10 – 13 at 5:30pm and 6:00pm.
