Engine launches free Cultural Exchange Box program

In response to Governor Mills’ mandate to Stay Home, Stay Healthy due to the pandemic, Engine is adapting its Cultural Exchange Program that had launched just prior to Biddeford Public Schools shuttering. Understanding that human basic needs are of the utmost priority, we are planning to adopt a CSA model–community support agriculture–where each registered participant will receive a weekly box with ingredients to cook a healthy, culturally-appropriate recipe, a journal, and some art supplies along with a lesson from one of our teaching artists–Debbie Schmitt, David Twiss, and Anna Ackerman. The program is free to youth grades 2-12 who meet income requirements.

The Cultural Exchange Box will be safely delivered to the participant’s doorstep by Engine staff while observing proper social distancing of take-out delivery drivers.
